Do any of you take whole eggs on overnight back trips?

Yes, either hard boiled or well packed cold/cooler. JetBoil makes for a quick egg breakfast!

I like using a mini nalgine bottle, break the eggs into there then put the little nagine into a bigger one full of ice and wrap that with my sleeping bag.. No shells to break, not gonna leak and cold scrambled eggs waiting for you the next day :)

Those suggestions sound great. Personally, I've never backpacked full, real eggs in. I very rarely go on one night trips, they're usually at least 3 nights, up to 11 night epics.

I'm into the ultralight thing, and eggs were out of the question until a few years ago when a friend turned me on to the Mountain House freeze dried ones. Those things are pretty damn good! And it's a protein blast, too. Just add hot water...I like that. They sell them at Walmart.

Yes, all the time, I take hardboiled eggs. I typically warm them back up in my coffee water in the morning for a warm tasty treat.

+1 for the mountain house breakfasts...although much more expensive.
