With the highwire crossing of the little colorado gorge yesterday, I just heard about for the first time about the Grand Canyon Escalade and Save the Confluence.

I was wondering what the canyoneering community thought about a tram into the canyon right at the confluence?

The Grand Canyon Escalade is one of the worst ideas EVER. It is even worse than the toilet seat that hangs over Grand Canyon's rim to the west. The LCR gorge is rugged, wild and gorgeous and the confluence is pretty amazing also.

Really bad case of hypocrisy.
The Navajo constantly complain that the Arizona Snowbowl ski area is desecrating their sacred mountain, yet want to put a tram to the confluence where they (and the Hopis, I believe) claim their ancestors emerged from the underworld.
