I will end up leaving the Zion area to do some stuff, but as for now there is still too much to do

29 different canyons done here
55 still to go that I know of. Seems like every time we do a new one, we add 2 more to the list

Mine exactly....let me know when you plan to knock one or two of these off the list! Would love to partner up.

I am interested in doing a lot of the same Grand Canyon slots, particularly the ones in the Kanab Creek and Tuckup drainages. Oh and Cove, that one is very high on my list!

It's still that way for me.... the more canyons I do the more canyons I learn about.

At one time in my life I was worried I'd run out of canyons.... now I'm just sad I'll never live long enough to do all the canyons on my list.

But in two weeks I'm doing a canyon that has been on my must-do list for 10 years. I have my fingers crossed that all the required pieces fall into place to make it happen.

Was thinking of that one on Thanksgiving weekend if you are interested.

Well... I could parrot everyone's Kolob, Imlay, Choprock list. Obviously, all good lists. Here is my non-traditional list:

Any Powell canyon requiring a boat. The 'Edens' look fun. And I'd like to learn how the boat logistics work.

I'd like to do Peach Wash and not piss off the Navajo Nation.

I'd like to do Deer Creek in The Grand Canyon, legally.

One big, scary exploration that I haven't told anyone about. Don't know if I will ever be qualified to do it. FWIW, there is at least one monster that still lurks out there.

Claustral Canyon, Australia

An exploration out in Dinosaur, CO with Scott P. He's probably forgotten, but I haven't. Had to throw that in, since he started this thread.

Cypress Creek, BC

Mumbai looks amazing.

Egypt 5.

Lucky Charms again. Because I liked the climb at the top. :haha:

Kolob, Right Fork, Sandthrax, Choprock, 150 mile. Poe/Smiling Cricket was at the top of the list but will done this weekend.

Scott, I'm also still interested in the Dinosaur exploration.

Slot, I have the same itch for boat accessed canyons at Powell. I have scouted the Edens from the bottom up and seen that massive pothole that's in there-it gave me chills looking at it last summer. I have a boat, we should talk...

I have a boat, we should talk...

I'd be interested as well, and I've already done many sections of the Edens.

Those canyons have everything from big potholes to high stemming.

Could just use a kayak, duckie, or even a tiny blow up raft as well. The exit and entrance aren't that far apart. PS, you would need someone with really good pothole skills. Those potholes are huge.

Speaking of canyoneering wish lists..... at one time I had a long list of "canyoneers" I wanted to do a canyon with. Now days there are only a few names on the must-do a canyon with list.

I enjoy looking at the Bogley forum members and knowing I have done canyons with most of those who post regularly.

Maybe I'm just getting old, because now days who I do a canyon with matters more to me then which canyon I do.

I haven't done the Bakers yet, but hear that they are really good (they were actually some of the first technical canyons I ever heard about). The east fork is harder and has some high stemming and a pothole. The canyons are on Shane's website.

Swap Undercover for MMI.... you will be happy you did.

We were headed for Undercover last January 2 but there was snow on the northern slopes. We did Rock of Ages though the ice water instead.

I didn't get wet (stick walking pool arch and jump from log). She got we twice.

I took her to Yankee Doodle and she chickened out on the rap. Hasn't been interested in a new canyon since.

Zero G is great.. no rap for us featherweights.

If I remember Dragonfly, the raps are a bit funky. She doesn't like funky raps.

n/a means there was no photo available on the website to add in the photo column.

The list is of canyons I haven't completed, except for a few that I have and are noted after the creation of the list. I have not done Anasazi, Lehi and Moepitz.

Byron
Do you need 2 boats?
Enter-Oak
Exit -Anasazi.Hey Kurt, if you want to do them, let me know...I have a boat, a Zodiac, that I've used for the last 10 years as my Powell water taxi. I think you have a boat too, eh? And you too, Scott...if you want to come along, I'm sure we can make room for you.

Exiting Anasazi would be tough, because the last couple hundred yards of it is certainly an X or XX slot with slimy, moss covered super tight walls that require high stemming...then you have to deal with whatever you run into at the lake...a rappel? A slimy elevator? I've been about halfway through it before retreating, as my partners, including Kelsey once, said "That's enough!" I think Nat Smale made it all the way.

Anyway, you enter at Little Oak, the next drainage uplake from the big Oak Creek Canyon. You come back that way, too. Awesome scenery and canyons in a pristine wilderness setting...Anasazi and Lehi are especially nice, Moepitz really not so much...although it has a great place for a basecamp.

It's really best to go with someone that been there before...and there aren't that many that have. The route finding required for a first timer, even a good one, would be very difficult. Leaving the marina, back to the marina, 4 nights minimum. You could do these canyons from the Rainbow Bridge trailhead, but that would still require full on backpacking and a minimum of 3 nights...ripping along at breakneck speed. The boat option is the best.

hmmm--If you stay in little oak, I've camped there several times.
I have the boat and required amenities for the lake.
Maybe this fall? Would require a group investment in gas.
I would have to launch at Antelope Point or Wahweap, likely Antelope Point with the cut high and dry.
Max group of 4?, 6? less?

Sounds good Byron, but sadly I've burned up my vacation this year. Holiday weekends (such as Labor Day) are still good, but probably aren't enough time for the Anasazi complex.

Also, have you been through Hidden Passage/Music Temple yet?

I'd really like to go on a 3 day trip to Powell sometime this year.

Byron

Maybe this fall?
Max group of 4?, 6? less?Say the word, I'll be there. You could gather as many friends as you wish, as these canyons aren't highly technical...noobs could do them, but they'd have to have endurance...as the hikes in, doing the canyons and hiking back to the camp would be all day affairs. In regards to the fall, not too late...perhaps before the end of September. As you can see, they're wet. And yes, given time, hitting West Canyon on the way back to the marina would be a huge cherry on top of everything. Add two nights for that "little option". All these canyons are incredible.

Also, have you been through Hidden Passage/Music Temple yet?

I'd really like to go on a 3 day trip to Powell sometime this year.I've never even considered Hidden Passage/Music Temple as a canyon destination...I'll have to check it out to see how much of a canyon you have to go through before it hits the lake! I've been up it in my boat, of course.

Three nights isn't enough time to get deep down, towards the San Juan arm where all this action is. You could rip up to West from Antelope in that time, as that canyon is a destination unto itself. Kelsey rates it Number 1 for a reason. The narrows section, in the upper end, is equivalent to the Zion Narrows, and it goes on forever.
