After decades of work, the Access Fund received notice yesterday from National Park Service (NPS) that the agency has issued final national policy authorizing fixed anchors in wilderness. This policy

I know I will be in the super minority if not the only one here to disagree with this.

The last thing Joshua Tree needs is more bolts.

I can't tell you how many climbs, where natural anchors are possible, lazy top ropers are bolting a fixed anchor up top. Climbs that have been climbed both lead and top roped safely with traditional equipment are recently seeing bolts added.

I really really hope the parks use this new authoirztion very conservatively.

Frustrating.
