Found an awesome little stream close to home recently with some wonderful fish as well as remarkable scenery. These look like redband rainbow trout and are wild and reproducing. Very unexpected here in the desert. A few, including this one, had the most remarkable parr markings. Fish up to 16" in a stream about 8 feet wide was pretty incredible, especially since they don't get much pressure and attacked anything dark and dry. They also were vicious with fast stripped buggers. Awesome welcome to Utah for me.

Congrats! I find that the wild bows here tend to speckle up tightly, glow with color, and retain their parr for quite awhile.

Gorgeous fish!

Care to share? I would kill for some good area to practice my Tenkara around here. PM me if you would like to help a feller out.

Ah, tenkara fishing. I did a bit of that when I was in Japan about 15 years ago and it's a blast, not to mention very effective.

I could never get the hang of all the nuances and gear that came along with Western Fly fishing so I sold my gear and bought a couple of Tenkara rods but have yet to really spend some time with them. I have vowed this summer will be different.

It's kind of like dapping or high stick nymphing. When I was in Japan it was hard to find Tenkara gear, bass fishing was a big deal, though. :haha:
