Potholes in Zion?

I am going on a trip to Zion in a couple months. That being said, I haven't been before and was wondering if there are a lot of potholes that I would have to worry about.

From what I understand, and what I've seen, unless you're doing Imlay or Heaps, potholes aren't much of an issue. There's a couple in Das Boot you might want to be ready for, and a semi-keeper in Echo, but for the most part potholes aren't much of an issue in Zion, at least in my experience. Others may chime in and say I'm wrong, but that's what I say.

If you enter Echo from the top there are three potholes that many will require a partner assist to exit. They should never be a major problem for two or more but solos could encounter problems.

I can't remember any potholes in Das Boot? Doesn't mean they don't exist.
I just can't remember them.

During the day, it's pretty easy to avoid them. At night, however, you must be extra careful. Just make sure you bring a good flashlight for those bathroom trips after dark!!!

Also, the big ones look scary, but they're not so bad...it's those little, deep ones that'll mess you up.

I didn't remember one in Das Boot either, I just thought our description said it and we went right over it because the water was high or something? I don't know.

I went through once with low water and there weren't any potholes in DB. There are a few I think in the section above DB though.

There are two big potholes in Das Boot, but a log lays across the top of them. You must do a little balancing act to get over them, then do an interesting downclimb into a large pool. A fall from that log would be very bad. That was my favorite part of DB.

You don't really have to 'conquer' them... but maybe that is what people are thinking of?? :ne_nau:

I don't remember any potholes in das boot either. Some fun downclimbs but nothing that techniqual at all.

The potholes are at 2:35 in the video below. I agree, not really any "Keepers" when I went down a year ago. But if you fell from this log, getting back out wouldn't be the most enjoyable thing out there.
