Have a permit for Mystery on the 25th and will be our first time through this canyon. We will be starting from the Top. Anyone know the conditions of the anchors lately? Are the narrows even open? Is there water in the lake? Would you recommend wetsuits? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks in advance for any help!

Bootboy went through the other day and has a report on candition.com check that out. Been quite a few groups through so far this year so I'd assume some anchors have been changed but I'd still be prepared to change some. Narrows are open but cold. They showed 43 degree water temps at the bc desk on Friday when I picked up some other permits. The end of mystery is really wet id advise wetsuits I know I was very thankful of having them when I went through in nov.
Went through it on Friday - no snow to be found and only one pool of water at the bottom of the 2nd to last rap (the one in Mystery Springs). Webbing and anchors in decent shape. I took a group of six with some noobs with one guy out of shape and it was a looong day so if you are hiking up from the bottom with a large group plan accordingly!
As far as wetsuits go - we used 4/3 fulls with booties. The hike out the narrows was knee-waist deep in a couple spots and the river was running at 100 cfs. If you are "tough" guys and the weather is warm you could skip the wetsuits but I would recommend against this.

I am going through on Saturday and will try and post any changes to Bootboy's report...although I do not expect any.
Just a sidenote to candition, thanks for all of the updates guys. A few weeks ago I was speaking to Dave theking646 and I gave him a updated list of 200+ canyons, and he told me some of canditions new upgrades coming in the future.. You guys are definitely in a for a treat! Dave has worked hard at candition 2.0 (what I'm calling it). Anyways, thanks again!

Went through on Saturday (4/20) from wheeping rock and out the narrows in 6 hours with a team of two. The snow in death gully may be gone, but left behind is very slippery mud. Water only encountered at second to last rap (the spring) and of course into the narrows. Water is very cold, but we decided to leave the drysuits in the car and brought our wet suits instead. It was a little chilly walking out, but we started late so we didn't hit the narrows until 5:30p. Less hikers to watch you slip on the slick last rap :naughty: Other than that I thought the canyon was "basic" and straightforward. note: we had a 120ft rope, 50ft rope, and pull cord. I was worried the 120ft rope wouldn't reach the last rap and I would have to add the 50 and pass a knot, but it reached with about 5 feet to spare.
