Man Killed by Beaver

I would have never thought of a beaver killing someone. Dang.

A fisherman in Belarus was bitten to death by a beaver, and all he was doing was trying to take its picture, Sky News reports. The man spotted the beaver while fishing with friends at Lake Shestakov, but as he approached to take a photograph, the beaver bit him on the thigh. The animal managed to sever an artery, and his friends couldn't stop the blood flow.

Sky News helpfully reminds us that beavers can, of course, bite through trees. Beaver attacks are rare, though, and when they do occur, rabid beavers are generally to blame (as in the 2012 attack in upstate New York (http://www.newser.com/story/152026/scouts-stone-rabid-beaver-to-death.html)). But just this week, a video was posted on YouTube showing a beaver going after a Russian man, reports the Telegraph, and two girls were seriously injured after being mauled by a beaver in Virginia last year.

Breaking News: Pres. Obama to Ban Beavers.
After the fatal attack by a beaver on a fisherman trying to snap a photo of the animal, President Obama today announced that Beavers will be banned and rounded up. “We can’t have beavers running around and killing people,” the President said. “It’s just not right! Why does an animal need to have such a large tail and huge teeth anyway? They’re too ‘high capacity’! Also, effective immediately, all citizens wanting to venture into the woods will need to have a background check just in case they happen to spot a beaver.” The President wasn’t clear on where the wild rounded-up beavers would be kept but hinted that they would most likely be sent to North Korea.
