My SD card went wonky when I was copying off the pix of my Butler Wash trip. It's fairly new and a good brand, (SanDisk) so I'm surprised. I didn't lose them all, just one directory of shots.

With a little googling, I've used recuva and photorec_win to attempt the recovery. photorec_win worked the best and has pulled up 50 or so of the missing files. I remember a few more pictures, particularly from Monarch Cave that I haven't recovered yet.

Any other recommendations to try to salvage the rest of my pix?

Ran into an older desert rat who says there's another ruin up Monarch way but off on a path to the right that has a snake carved into the floor. Be fun to find that one too.

I can't help any with the current situation, but for the future; I was just reading on a photography site that I frequent that one should not use windows (or mac) to delete files off of the card. According to this site, one should always reformat with the camera and that doing so will prevent many card errors. I never used to do this but do now. Can't say that it works but these guys seemed reputable so I am doing so now.
