The SPAM Thread

Some SPAM is just too good to delete. So I will create this thread to move the very select of the SPAM comments and posts here for us to cherish and value.

Even though we all hate the spammers, it's sometimes a shame to delete them and miss out on the mockery that can ensue. Of course we'll ban the Spammer user, but their message shall live on. Without the links of course.

Occasionally they'll even bump an oldie but goodie thread too.

We'll only be moving SPAM posts here that are made from this point forward. :spam:

I don't know, 'beech...if anyone could possibly top the "Platinum status" guy! That was friggin' funny!

Perhaps I'm naive, but how does a spammer like the guy above actually start "spamming"? He's not advertising anything (yet) and there are no links...is he hoping to befriend someone and get personal info? I'm pretty clueless on the intricacies of the spam culture.

We block link capabilities from new users until they make a few posts.

Plus they like to put links in their signature.

They'll make a few posts, look semi relevant, and then BAM they are selling used arm chairs.

I thought about that, but if they've made several posts and we want to wipe them all out with one swoop, it's a little more maintenance to save just one of them. No big deal.

If I'm missing something here, maybe someone can straighten me out...

Where are these people coming from? I'm talking about the rash of folks that appear to have little command of English and/or syntax that have been showing up here, it seems, lately.

I understand that some make a few posts then start with the "sales links", but others seem to just hang out, slapping up weird posts every now and then. I see that some others here will interact with them, at least initially...

If they come in as a newbie in General, then that's a dead giveaway. It's those other ones, the ones that just seem to lurk that I don't understand.

Are ALL of them spammers? Hoping to victimize someone who may chum up with them...or waiting until the moment is right to post up the link to the handbag site? I'm just baffled by the strangeness of it...
