Who wants to get this going? Many of the lower elevation trails are rideable in SLC. Corner canyon or the bobsled would be a good place to start. :ride:

K. This week it will be Draper. Meet at the Parking area halfway up traverse ridge, its called the potato hill parking I think. Lets meet there at 6 PM, map below. The Google picture needs to be updated, you now take a hard left and go through the gate, where there is parking. Maybe @Iceaxe (http://www.bogley.com/forum/member.php?u=36) will join, its his stomping grounds...great riding. :ride:

There is a 60% chance of rain on Thursday.... This is after we had heavy rain (and snow in the mtns) on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. I got caught in a rain storm up there on Friday and it was not fun. I bet you remember when we hit some mud up there several years ago...not good. We can look for reports from @Iceaxe (http://www.bogley.com/forum/member.php?u=36) .

Lets shoot for next Thursday, anybody else want to join? :ride:

Hmmm. I just figured after 2+ days to dry out they should be open. Iceaxe might have a report for us. There are other trails as the article mentions that you can ride year-round. We could ride up to Ghost Falls and back.

accadacca
04-17-2013, 12:06 PM
That website doesn't show some of the lower elevation trails. Several should be rideable down by the equestrian park: http://www.skidmap.com/?p=40.49642,-111.84352&z=15&v=topo&c=elev,linker,help

Iceaxe
04-17-2013, 12:07 PM
If you move the meet-up to the equestrian center you don't have to worry about closed trails as the bottom trails and the north loop to Ghost Falls are always open.

Anyhoo.... it's cold outsdie right now. I'll do the ride if it's warm but you might want to move it back anther week as it doesn't look like it's going to warm up much.

accadacca
04-17-2013, 12:15 PM
50 tomorrow works for me. If it looks sketchy up on potato hill, we'll just drive down to the equestrian center and ride canyon creek to BST and spring hollow or out at the pool.

Tuesday next week!!! :ride:

Yeah, It's never fun having to sling your bike over your shoulder and hike out because the rear derailleur/chain is so jammed in the cassette the wheel won't spin! Of course it had to happen the day I post in answer to Sombeach's question that the X-9 has been the most trouble-free derailleur I've used! Actually, I'm not sure the problem is the derailleur. Taking it in to the bike shop today. It was also the maiden voyage of a new, lite-weight, fast rolling, front tire I had just mounted and was excited about trying out. Oh, well, another day.
I hear Flying Dog may be ready to go by next Tuesday (hint, hint!).

The only trail that is still closed is Flying Dog. The others, like Glenwild, are open now. With the temps warming up into the 80's over the weekend and a projected 84 on Tuesday, I'm thinking Flying Dog will be open.

Nice to see you on the trail, Matt. I rode the entire 16 mile Glenwild/Flying Dog loop, counterclockwise. No mud anywhere. The top of Flying Dog was tacky and perfect. Everywhere else was dusty dry. After having my bike 'fixed' from last weeks ride, I still experiencing mechanical issues. I had to pedal up the east side of Flying Dog (all the switchbacks) in the middle chainring. My legs felt it when I reached the top. Just before I ran into Matt at the Stealth/24-7 intersection, my derailleur jammed again. Fortunately I was able to fix it enough to coast/somewhat pedal the couple of remaining downhill miles back to the car.
