Current condition of Cottonwood Canyon Road

Hi,

We are considering hiking up to Yellow Rock on Wednesday this week ( assuming it turns out to be a sunny afternoon that is ).

Anybody driven up that far recently and knows the current condition of the road? We will have a rental SUV, but not sure whether we would need to rent a 4WD for this trip...

If you dont know the current condition, any suggestions as to whom I should contact to find out?

I have not been in recently, but last year there was deep sand a few miles in where the road drops into the bottom. 4x4 was definitely needed then.
