I'm the new guy here, although I am an OLD guy. I am a retired airline pilot and I now work as a USFS fire lookout in Oregon from May through October. I'll be starting my 5th fire season in about two months.
I'm into a lot of outdoor activities, as my profile indicates. But I'm all-consumed by photography, especially wildland fire photography.
I live in the mountains along the NC/SC state line, near the Mountain Bridge Wilderness. I drive to Oregon (3200 miles) in early May and return in late October.
The drive has taken me through fantastic places: Paria, Canyonlands, Kodachrome Basin, Death Valley, White Sands, Inyo NF, and many more. But the time in the fire lookout tower in the Deschutes NF is the ultimate. I look forward to sharing my adventures from Fire Season 2013, and to learning from this forum.
