Thanks to everyone that attended last night's presentation on Canyoneering In The Pacific Northwest. We had a fantastic turnout from a group of really enthusiastic outdoor adventure lovers. Several attendees said they had been waiting for an event like this for a long time and were very enthusiastic about putting together a group of Pacific Northwest canyoneers.


There were some really great questions as well including several from very knowledgeable attendees who had some great suggestions on tailoring a Canyon Rating System more specifically for PNW canyons. Since the vast majority of PNW canyons are Class C canyons, having a more comprehensive rating that more accurately characterizes these conditions created some great discussion.


Also included in the discussion were some very exciting looking alpine canyon systems that would require alpine mountaineering skills in addition to canyoneering skills. There are some spectacular alpine canyon systems that have likely never been explored that could provide some fantastic new opportunities.
