Chicago on Sunday reached 41 homicides, surpassing the January 2012 homicide toll, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
A 25-year-old woman died Sunday after suffering head trauma in the 7700 block of South Morgan Street in Auburn Gresham, police said. She was the 41st homicide victim of the year, RedEye determined. Forty homicides were logged in January 2012.
With seven homicides, Saturday was the deadliest day of the year. The city recorded two double homicides Saturday and three other killings. The last time Chicago saw a day with seven homicides was Nov. 5, 2011, when a triple homicide and four other killings were logged, according to RedEye data. The deadliest days of 2012 were Feb. 19 and Aug. 18, when six homicides were logged apiece.

Ya but how do we know those homicides were gun related?

It could've been a candlestick....or a noose....or a lead pipe....committed by Colonel Mustard....in the Observatory.

committed by Colonel Mustard....in the Observatory.

I'd be willing to bet some of my hard earned dollars it was not Colonel Mustard, but was instead an adult black male(s).....

Hadiya Pendleton -- described by a relative as a “walking angel” -- was standing under a canopy in Vivian Gordon Harsh Park when a gunman ran down an alley, opened fire at the group and fled in a white car, police said.

So my question now is.... why are we not banning white cars in Chicago?

never mind--that won't work, then we would be spending money on "actual" criminals, instead of wasting money trying to make law abiding citizens into criminal.
