Officially -36F downtown, but I have -40F (or C) on my thermometer (or -39.8F) at the house.

Man, that's rugged...now you know what it feels like to live in Alaska. People have to be real careful with their cars when it gets that cold. I've heard all kinds of nasty things happen to oil and fuel. It's not nearly that cold here in Denver, but I sure am glad I have a block heater in my work van, as it won't fit in the garage.
I'm sure people are taking precautions for that kind of thing...but it would still make me nervous.

Looks like we're much colder than them today, though that will change (at least in Fairbanks and Barrow).
Current temps:
Barrow (northernmost point in Alaska) = +2F
Fairbanks = +27F
Anchorage = +36F
Juneau = +39F

Sitting out on my front porch in my underwear, drinking coffee here, only -17.

It was so cold yesterday that I saw a group of teenagers and they had their pants pulled all the way up.

It was 80 F at Ubehebe Crater in Death Velley yesterday (give or take a few degrees). Just a little too hot to be hiking for my liking...:fitz:

80 degrees everyday this week in Maui. I think that it cooled down to 70 last night.
