Missed Dakar. Missed the super practice sessions.
Did help my buddy break in his new 500 XC-W for the first 30 miles and managed to wash the bike, Cook dinner and sit down with a cold one with 66 minutes to go.

So I was watching the pre race stuff and Stewart said he wasn't 100% did catch why. ...But he sure didn't look good in the qualifier. Is he already Hurt? And VIL, he couldn't stay on the track to save his life. Was an exciting race though. Who every MillSLAP is, he sure looked good.

Davey Millsaps... you know, the guy who took second only to Poto last year. The guy who beat Dungey by a few points. Rode as team mate to Stewart... and didn't choke like his team mate. The Rodney Dangerfield of Supercross - can't get any respect.

That Millsaps... and its nice to see him win this one, it could be his last..

He's been pretty down to earth the last little while.
The way he handled the clutch deal was strait up mature and now he reaps the rewards of his practice times and great start.

I used to think that it was JS's dad getting involved that messed his head up.
But he has grown into an adult and I'm not sure if his daddy being involved down on the lines is a timing thing or not but I hope he rides for another year.

Great race this week! I didn't think Stewart was going to hold off Villopoto, but he passed him when Stewart was slowing down for a flag?

Once they passed the red cross flag, stewart stayed on the slow pace. Passes are legal on yellows as long as you don't do any jumps. Villapoto just got on the gas sooner, a small lack of concentration by Stewart, but the way Villapoto was riding I don't think he would have held him off anyways

Agreed, he probably would have passed him that night, but it still seemed like a cheap move. Stewart countered a couple times and passed him back once. It was a fun night for sure. I wonder how big of a lead Stewart had before the restart...damn CBS.

Anyone on here going to the Salt Lake or Vegas Supercross? I used to live in Phoenix and attended their Supercross each year. Now that I've moved I'm hoping to go to another nearer venue. I know in Phoenix you can score discount tickets in bike shops - does anyone know if that's the same for Vegas or SLC?

Not sure about discount tickets. I'd like to know as well. The supercross is at Rice Eccles stadium and outdoor motorcross is at the Larry H. Miller track.

Shoot you don't need dicount tickets for SLC just by ONE and you'll be on the front row.:lol8: Worked last year.

Vegas tickets are about 2 to 3 times what they go for in SLC but Salt lake is either raining or hot during the day and colder than shit for the race by the time the cool air drifts in from the hills right above the stadium after dark. It's a much shorter track also.
I'm sure I'll be back again this year. 40$ for front row if bought single day of race.
This time I'm going to get a hold of Chet:2thumbs:

I think Dungey is playing a very hot hand tonight.

If I can talk Danali into a bit of a side trip on the way back:lol8: It's not very big bike friendly or rather high gear friendly but can be done and affords a great Photo op on a over look to the I-15 Gorge.

I would have to agree. I do like the indoors but it's nothing compared to outdoors. The outdoors are so much faster and funner to watch.

Spent all day Saturday out at MMP, what a huge amount of dirt they brought in! The racing was good (250s were great) and the spectating wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. All in all a good day of racing even with a little dust storm blowing through I was on the other side of the track so it wasn't nearly as dusty for us. I hope it comes back next year seeing how we lost the SX already.

I hope it comes back next year seeing how we lost the SX already.

I was at the AMA Outdoor Nationals at MMP for 2 1/2 days working as a volunteer in charge of the flaggers and spending all my time on and around the track. Yes, very impressive to say the least! There is a few bugs to work out but overall the feedback I heard from an AMA guy was positive. In talking with the event coordinator for Miller Motorsports I learned that they have a 3 year contract with the AMA and MX Sports so it will definately be back for 2 more years and hopefully more after that. As far as the SX, when I was working that race the AMA informed me that it should only be gone for 3 years but will be back for sure down the road. All in all, we here in Utah are very fortunate that we have had this much mororcycle racing, both dirt and track.
ALSO, they (MMP) are leaving the track in place, modifying it slightly due to clearing the dirt off of the Road Course so it can still be utilized. They are then planning on using the track for more local events, like the RMX Series and possaibly part of the Wild West Series.

I remember when motocross for the locals was held inside the circle jerks Bonniville race track in west valley off of 2100 south.

Yeah I remember those days, never really liked that track. The newer RMR track was better, but still not too high on my list of race tracks. And yes we are quite fortunate to have these AMA races out here locally and hopefully we continue to keep one or both of them.

There's a small maybe private track just south of Beaver,UT. on the west side of the freeway.
On my way home today after some rain I seen someone out tearing it up.
Any other time I have passed it looked like it has been shut down for years.

The second heat was a lot of fun to watch with all of the lead swapping and passing that occurred in the front. I thought for sure Dungey was going to win since he was just seconds behind stewart and had already taken the joker lane. But stewart still came out of the joker lane in front of dungey and won. It was a ton of fun to be there for sure. Early morning bird hunting on a dirt bike and late night monster cup racing. Great day!
