This weekend was originally planned as:

Saturday - Englestead
Sunday - Lower Refrig
Monday - Mystery

Now its:

Saturday - Yankee/Boltergiest
Sunday - Work on my house
Monday - Prob just go to work

With a multitude of problems of flu's, colds, vehicle issues, and other stuff it just all fell apart. No big deal though, I don't think they are going anywhere.

Didn't want it to be a total bust so Me, my son Kyler, his friend Braden, his Dad Jed, and my neighbor Brian headed up the hill. We hit snowpacked and/or muddy roads immediately out of silver reef as expected. There was actually less snow in the canyons than I had expected, only about 2" at its deepest spot. Towards the end of Yankee I noticed a bolt had been pulled at one of the downclimbs, didn't really notice if they all had been before that one, or just the one. Most of the slots can be stemmed, but all the pools are full so plan on getting about knee wet.

Boltergiest was good, no real issues except if you fall in the water :haha: in the last slot it's waist deep. 3 of them did, the walls have slick mud and moss on it. Cleaned up the webbing on the last rap, there was 4 different pieces of webbing and 4 quicklinks ?

There are alwasy a lot of droppings towards the end of Boltergiest and I always assumed there were deer hanging out there. It is some wild domestic goats. We finally seen them and I took a pic, but it's not a very good one

Nice report, How was the first slab on the exit out of the bottom of Yankee?

Be a real pisser if it had ice/snow

We ran into ice and snow a year or two ago in Yankee. Had the bright idea to do a night run in the winter, and the exit was... interesting. The real tricky part was the small steps about halfway up the slab, all of them were full of ice and unusable so you had to lay out and friction your way past them.

fyi if the exit is sketchy on yankee one can hike down canyon to a canyon junction and hike up the next canyon back to the road. I've had to do this once.

looks like you had a fun trip hope I can make it next time:2thumbs:

I've heard of it, but don't know exactly where it it's at. I'm game, but by the looks of it there is something more to the story

The canyons real name is Dicks. Shaun didn't like swimming through a pothole where pigeons had been roosting.

only 2 raps if I recall, first 90-100/ second seemed 130ish, been awhile though, I could be wrong.

Not exactly. I didn't mind the swim, even with a 2mm shorty in Nov. I saw the large amount (hundreds of pounds) of pigeon poop and thought what a perfect name.

Kody I may be able to be talked into it 4+ year later now. BUT you have to pay for the webbing lengths, or sand traps. Not that great of a canyon. Much better in the area worth repeating a couple dozen times. Could be a fun anchor challenge for ghosting.

Back on subject I heard rumors there were bolts in boltergiest? can anyone confirm this.

There is one bolt LDC on the first rap. Seen a guide using it a month or so ago. It is in a stupid place and they actually had one of their clients get injured using it. Not really even noticeable unless you actually are looking for it

Back on the pigeon poop subject. I already added it to my to do list so its too late to back out. I have plenty of webbing and have been wantin to buy a sand trap. Could fiddlestick it?
