Finally got around to trying this with the GoPro. I had the suction cup mount to the butt of the rifle. This may work ok for rabbit hunts if they aren't too far out there, otherwise they may not be visible beyond about 50 yards or so.

I should have tried from the shotgun too but didn't get around to it. I'm thinking a few rounds from the shotgun may knock that mount loose.

I've had some comments that my face was very close to the end of the barrel on the reloads, but the camera deceives. The end of the barrel was extending past my head at all times, not in front of it.

That is really cool.

Is that mount specifically for a long gun? I am curious if the mount and camera could stand up to the punishment of heavy magnum recoil?

The camera and case would do fine, but it's just a suction cup holding the mount to the butt. Too big of recoil could knock it off, easier in colder weather too. There's also the option of using the GoPro seat post mount to clamp right on to the barrel, or even the larger roll bar mount. It would block a clear line down the sights, but it wouldn't come off.
