Isn't that legally considered "cruel and unusual punishment?" I thought stuff like that was off limits. Why not just put her in the stocks and let people throw rotten vegetables at her?

I see nothing cruel about this sentence. Creative yes, cruel no. Her driving speaks volumes about her attitude towards the law, kids, safety, about how important she thinks she is. A fine in this case would be insufficient. A weekend in jail would have been appropriate too. Frankly she got off easy in my opinion.

In my opinion... this kind of behavior, especially when repeated (that means being 100% sure the act has been carried out on purpose) should also be punished by loosing the drivers licence for at least 3 years.... a tough sentence, but if you act like this (again in my opinion) you don't understand the risks and dangers of driving a car.
