Planning on doing Behunin tomorrow and wondered if anyone could give me an idea of the conditions in the canyon?
What is the average time to complete the canyon with an experienced group?
Thanks for any input.

Did Behunin on 10/27 - put a report up on http://www.candition.com (see http://www.candition.com/canyons/behunin). Travel time will depend on group size and experience. Estimate 1.5 to 2.5 hours for the approach and 4 to 7 hrs for the canyon. Going at a relaxed pace, a small experienced group should be able to do it in 7 or 8 hrs. We had water running over the slab for the first 3 raps. Pull on rap 3 can be tricky - you may want to consider a releasable anchor. There was standing water at the bottom of rap 3, but it was only ankle deep and easily avoidable. The sand area at the bottom of rap 5 was damp. The water in the pool at the bootom of rap 6 was still a swimmer, but can be avoded. The alternate rap station on the upper right looked like it would drop in avoiding the pool all together, or you can go further around. The downclimb before rap 7 had chest deep water, but can also be avoided. The pool at the bottom of the second stage of rap 7 had deep water still. With skill, the first person can jump this and then set up guided rap to keep everyone else dry or just help pull them accross. Leaf color was already about a week past. Canyon was in shade for the entire day. We stayed dry, so we didn't use wetsuits. Having a full set of dry clothes would be a good idea though.

Thanks for the replies! Our group size just went from 5 to 3 so we should move pretty fast.
