HOLY SHIT!
I'm not sure how I feel about this, but I'll say this; the best Star Wars movies were not directed by George Lucas (Empire and Jedi). And Disney has done some great things with its Marvel titles. This could be the best thing to happen to Star Wars since before George Lucas decided to make prequels.

Disney execs have their strategy solid. These past few years, they've been on quite the spree with successful ventures!

Oh God...I don't really know how to take this either. I just love all things sci-fi, but Lucas destroyed the prequels by making them nothing more than computer generated video games...they were awful.

I saw a movie a few months back, Prometheus, and it had the best special effects I've ever seen. However, very little of it was CGI. If they do another Star Wars like that, I'm all over it. CGI is fine, but way too much feels...not authentic? There needs to be a balance, I think.

Agreed. There is a place for CGI, but Yoda is and always should be a puppet. It's part of the appeal. But the bigger problem with the prequels is that Lucas isn't an actor's director. He's a great producer; bringing the designers, visual and audio effects people, and music, and yes; new technology, together. But when he directs actors the acting seems flat. For example the romance scenes in The Attack of The Clones.

You must be talking about a different Disney than the one I know:

John Carter
Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2
Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Brave
Frankenweenie
Frenemies
Let It Shine
Odd Life of Timothy Green
Radio Rebel
Secret World of Arrietty
Tinker Bell: Secret of the Wings
Treasure Buddies
Wreck-It Ralph

The only descent movie to come out of Disney in the past two years was CARS 2

:cool2:

Trust me on this one.... Disney will f**k-up anything Star Wars.... unless Jar Jar Binks is your favorite Star Wars charactor that is...

I wasn't referring to just their movies. Their recent ventures outside of film have been solid.

ABC Channels
ESPN
Studios
Travel (cruises)
Online ventures
Marvel

The diversification seems very strategic to separate themselves from the Disney Store and the entertainment parks.

How can Disney screw up Star Wars or Indiana Jones? Lucas already did a pretty good job of that.....

BINGO!! I remember they promised the world with John Carter, and that one was so lame I actually got up and left the movie half-way through.

I actually liked John Carter. Though it has little resemblance to the actual book, I sure loved the scenery! It was pretty cool to pick out the Utah locations (Lake powell, La Sal Mtns, Arches NP, Dead Horse Point, Etc.)

Yeah, I didn't really see a problem with the film John Carter. I enjoyed it. The marketing was a problem though. 'John Carter' is a terrible name, too bland; says nothing about who or what John Carter is. Should have been 'John Carter of Mars', or maybe 'Under the Moons of Mars' or 'A Princess of Mars'.
On the other hand that last Pirates of the Caribbean movie was a steaming Disney turd.
Still, I'm excited and optimistic about the future of Star Wars movies. :2thumbs:

Wow, that sure didn't take long! You wanna see something great, watch the South Park episode that parodies the Jonas Bros and Mickey Mouse...it's off the hook funny.
