I think it will be really interesting to see how this turns out.

Microsoft has a history of taking over markets that it did not make p(Microsoft Windows / Macintosh, Office / WordPerfect, Internet Explorer / Mosaic (and Ethernet Browser to a lesser extent), Windows Domain / Novell, etc.

In this case ironically Microsoft did create the tablet market and has had to start over. Windows 8 is the largest gamble in Microsoft history (in my opinion). By combining all of their operating systems to feel the same, they are taking a real chance on their current market share to transition it over to the future. It is hard to imagine right now Microsoft coming out on top over Apply or Android in the mobile phone / tablet market but it certainly could happen.

P.S. That being said I am currently happy with Android and do not plan on being an early adapter on Microsoft's phone or tablets. They only way I could imagine wanting to switch is if Microsoft can make the tablet experience closer to a laptop experience.

I think it could be successful although Windows smart phones are kind of a fail. Some see MS as taking over markets and others see them as just creating a product to meet the public demand. Some will even stick with Novell and WordPerfect out of spite to try and stick it to Microsoft, but these stubborn users only hurt themselves in the end being the incompatible ones surrounded by others that just need to get a job done.

As dirty as it feels to conform, just let go man, it feels good :haha:
