During our recent visit to Utah, we stopped by the Edge of the Cedars Museum in Blanding (http://stateparks.utah.gov/parks/edge-of-the-cedars). After spending about 3 hours there I was asking the lady at the front desk about rock art sites to visit in the area. She was typically reserved about mentioning much. As we chatted she realized, as we mentioned some of the sites we had already visited, that we probably weren't vandals or theives and she opened up a bit. I mentioned that the way I collect rock art for display is to paint it on canvas and mount it with willow sticks and wire for a rustic look like this:

She was having a hard time picturing them so I brought one in from the car....I'd brought some with me to peddle in galleries in Moab. She liked it and another woman who works there came over to look. It turned out to be Kd Perkins who manages the gift shop. I gave them the painting to use for fund raising since I love the museum and what they've done with it since the flooding a few years ago. More patrons came in and we were interrupted so I waved goodbye and we left. Before we got to the car, the woman we first talked to ran out to give me Kd's card and told me she was interested in selling them at the museum's gift shop!

Freakin' awesome!!!!

So now the shipment has arrived there and will shortly be on display. I hope any of you who travel to the area can stop by and check them out as well as the awesome collection at the museum as.

While I was visiting Utah, another of my paintings was donated to Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple) in appreciation for his support by a horse rescue organization called Peaceful Acres (http://www.peacefulacreshorses.com/). I'd donated the work to them...it is a smaller version of a work that I'd also donated to them earlier that is on display there. It is a recreation of two horses painted in Lascaux Cave in France 20,000 years ago. I wish I'd been able to be there for the presentation but my Utah trip wasn't to be delayed. I did get a picture of The Woz and his wife enjoying the work...that was cool too!

If you are really bored, here's a link to our trip report. (http://www.pbase.com/peterb/utah_2012_trip_report)...not as exciting as some I read here on Bogley but it was pretty exciting for me to drag this 61 year old carcass around the 11 mile Chesler Park Loop.

I hope the rock art sells at the museum...I'd love an excuse to return to the area and write off hiking into ruins and rock art sites as a business expense. :cool2:
