One of the guys I ride with down here is restoring a 69 Husky. One of my other friends I ride with down here picked it up in a wagon when it was full of nuts and bolts.
They are kicking some but and it won't be long before it is done including some powder coating with the frame and other goodies. When it is done I post some picts. It is on new wheels drums and shoes and the frame is powder coated and new fuel and clutch lines on board with newly painted tank. It don't look the same as factory but dang if they are not doing a top notch job.
The 69 Husky is the first year by the way. FRAME IS POEDR COATED GREY INSTEAD OF THE TYPICL GLOSS BLACK I think they messed that up but it does look sweet.

Funny thing is I met theese guys out at the Rhino Rally last year while they were working as course workers. Been riding with them ever since.

What is really nuts about the whole Husky thing is Phil the owner still rides with and open face helmit with them old school bungie type googs and red Wing work boots.
Phil rides an old school DRZ 400 and the narliest hills that we all get somewhat sideways on he just puts up with no traction loss. Phil is and old Baja 500 champ and one of the nicest guys you may ever meet. He is also on of the only guys I know of with a GT-40 in his garage. You'd never guess it by talking to him or riding with him. Super nice guy.

Don is the one I rode out to the grand canyon with twice Once with his 1973 Yamaha 360 and once with his dailey dirt bike an 1993 cr 250 and dam if I can ever catch his ass.
I used to call him don on mondays but his schedule shifted and now it's like done on everyother monday and everyeven thursday LOL. This dude knows Warner Valley like no other trust me. He does own a truck and motorcycle trailer but I have never seen hi, use it but one time.
Because it is a gas sucking two smokie I usaually just ride from Santa Clara out to his house and ride till he is out of 3.2 glns and we call it a day and then I ride home with my plated bike. But lately it has been getting a bit chilly to do so and I just leave my jacket at his house until it's time to ride home.

Don is total moto madness. He only takes breaks cause you have to. He just keeps his 93 cr up enough to raise hell and never worries about the best tires or any of that kind of gruff. Just ride so we do.

The owner of this bike is always busy but? I have made two trips with him to grand cyn. But Don might make some rides this winter schedule pending. Crazy bugger still rides his 93 CR 250 and I think he always will with the ride here and there on his 73 Yamaha Enduro LOL. Don't let the 93 CR fool you either that boy rides.

A bit long winded but worth the watch.
What I don't understand is the timing gates seem to be set up with some kind of under glove devise. Anyone know anything about this?

Moto Madness= when you get into this moto thing and it take years to figure out that you have been doing it all wrong up to this point. Friggin Maddness I say.
But then someone hits the light switch to help you over that long curve. Madness I say and it is fun and it is good and it is very slow sometimes.

MOTO MADNESS:
When your bike comes back from Warner Valley with about 30 extra lbs. of muck a week after the biggest snow storm in over 30 yrs. and it takes 2 hrs to thaw the garden hose and another 2 to nock the heavy stuff off the bike.:2thumbs: Hot dang that was a great day to ride.
I went down once and my buddy Matt went down at least ten times and Don cause he just has to screw around found the cold wet muddy stuff several times himself.
Deep sand was perfect and the deep whoops where sketchy as hell being 1/2 covered in snow and the hill climbs where just plain insane in the purple stuff.:)

Exactly! After having spent some time recently on a 450 4 stroke Honda, I just don't get the appeal. Sure it has a good mid-range grunt and power for days but in those low end tight turns it takes forever to deliver the power, just felt flat till it was doing 40+mph. I'm sure part of it was my unfamiliarity with a 4stroke but it sure felt good to get back on the 250. Now I'm eyeing that 350 smoker.....

The goat trail is but I'm not sure about the other but I think it is close.
THe Goat trail is right above the Dino Tracks with a head to the east program up in them there rocks bro.:)
Just head on either side of the fence and go as far as you dare park a bike and it's like another 70 maybe 80 yrds walk to see if you dare.

From the top side it is hard to tell you how to get there but look me up while in town and we can get you there no problemo.

That sweet YZM400 that Henry rode in 1997... I went to the Hangtown outdoor national right after Doug won in Vegas and got to see it up close and talk to him on Friday when they had practice. Handmade frame, custom CNCed cases, hand welded Ti silencer, it was super exotic for American motocross. It also was the only four stroke on the track back then.

A great big thanks to Chet for hooking me up for a movie that is about to come out.
The electric bikes might keep tons of trails open. Seems the number one thing closing our trails is noise. This is known by all the off road trails saver orgs.

But think about this one for just a minute. If the MTB crowds can't hear you coming up or down trail there will be strife.
But then again if the MTB crowd keeps pissing down their own leg they (BLM/FOREST SERVICE WILL JUST SHUT IT ALL DOWN AND SUWA WINS.:facepalm1:

I've been chasing Don on his POS 95 CR 250 and still can't catch him.
THe motor gets worked over on a reg. basis and the rest of his bike looks like sheep dung and if you can catch him my hat is off to you bro.

I've learned a lot by just trying to keep up with him but the thing is It IS NOT THE BIKE....

I love my bike and we are finally starting to get to know each other.

THe bling is just a thing and I have gone through it and glad I did with FI wide six and 500cc to boot.

I'm always for the newest bling that might help me like tires just ask Chet. The guy is ready to just plain shoot my sorry ass but I'm always trying something that might give me the edge.

Madness with the moto:
put in 92 miles today with about 75 of them over 95* mostly 98* But what a day to ride....
Started a 8:30 infront of my buddy Don,s house and worked our way over to Toq. falls then quickly down the hill for gas for him and a Gator aid for me.
Rode through town and back up hwy. 59 were we hit the Honeymoon trail and stopped for picts. Were we talked to this Teacher on summer break hiking for a spell and back down into Warner Valley to try and die of heat stroke to finish the day off.
Almost succeeded.
Got back to Don,s house at 4:00pm dragging some major but.

Great day of riding and I may not be able to ride for a week.
Everything is cramping up.

Right on! I have a 96 CR500 that I've owned since new. I'm in the middle of a small resto right now. I just got the frame back from Powder coat on Friday. Shoulda had the case back together Saturday but found the shift fork shaft was bent. Ordered it but it's on back order. It will be my dune only bike as I have my Ktm 300 for everything else. I'll post some pictures when she's done. We will have to get together for some dunin.

That is sweet! One owner, you don't see that to often. I've always dreamed of owning one. Mine will definitely not be as nice as yours. Its a 94, not the best year for graphics but oh well. It has a flywheel weight, gnarly pipe, vforce 3 reeds and pwk carb. I hope to have some fun with it in the sand & the snow. We will definitely have to dune it up when yours is put back together.

She ran like a raped ape! I loved the power! it's been over 10yrs since i rode there. Took a little getting used to the sand and 2 smoke power. Can't wait to go back. She did have a tendency to idle fast when she got hot. But nothing major. This bike will definitely put a smile on your face and put you in your place if your not careful, i love it. Now if I could ride it half as Good as Chete I'd be happy!

That I know I can get up any trail.............?? NONE will do it all and the big bikes would be great for money spending adventures but What do I love to ride??????????? And how far do I want to ride to get there? Everything thus far leans to an 690 adv. orange bike but? I just do not know. Suzuki 400 is a close 2nd.

Now think about it: A DRZ400 will get you through 5 MOH seen it done by Marks Bro Jerry. Nothing that you boys on your Bmw's will even try right?
They have been known to get to Alaska and back. A bit heavy like an xr650r without the 6.3 super tanker Like some of us have done in Logandale.

Now this little 690 with some mods may be a bit of a handfull in sand and such but will hall but all day long in the canyons and is very respectable in the dirt. It will never ride fast enough to keep any pace with the big Adventure bikes but it is a two way trail.

Took the 1050RT out for s spin today. Terrible bike for in town and neighborhoods BUT! She is a dream out on the highway. passed two cars doing the 50mph and just had to see how she felt. 5th gear (basically lugged) rolled on and with in 300 yards as I swept back in I looked down and about shit my panties at 90 that fast. Like I say a terrible bike in town but dang she rocks out on the open stuff.
