Holy meat Batman, that's allot of Elk. I picked up my Elk meat from the butcher. 263 lbs to be exact. The biggest this year Davis meats in Ogden has done, and may be the biggest wild bull they have ever taken in. As you can see it filled up my deep freeze and I still had to put the 1/3 left over in my parents. I really wanted to find out what the big boy weighed on the hoof so using this formula I found this is what I came up with.

Whole weight = 1.42 x field-dressed weight + antler weight
Field-dressed weight (viscera, feet removed minus antler weight)= 0.70 x whole weight
Skinned carcass weight (skin and head removed) = 0.83 x field-dressed weight
Boneless lean = 0.50 x field-dressed weight

Boneless lean=263.25
field-dressed weight=263.25x2.0=526.50
whole weight=526.50x1.42+47= 795.13 lbs on the hoof.

According to the chart at a field-dressed weight of 526.50 my bull was between 9-10 years old, right at the height of his prime.:hail2thechief:Rest in Peace big boy, you shall be immortalized in my living room, and consumed with great appreciation.

Dang dude, just goes to show there wasn't much trick photography on your kill. It really was a monster. Nice job once again
