I started boating in Lake Mead in 2003 or so. We saw no zebra mussel at all then. About 2005 we started to see them and by 2008 every inch was covered. Unbelievable how quickly they appeared. Idaho has a required boat check stop at the border to prevent zebra mussel from coming to Idaho. The last time I pulled in I was coming straight from Lake Mead and I even had a Nevada registered boat with a NV hull number. The guys at the check station asked where I was coming from. I answered Lake Mead (which is known for the zebra mussel) and explained that I had pulled out of the water that morning. They gave me a slip showing that I had stopped and sent me on my way. Nothing about "don't launch in Idaho for 3 days" etc. Hmmmmm.......and we have the invasive species stops for what reason?

I have also noticed that felt soles are coming back again. Bob Jacklin told me that the scientists have concluded that the birds are spreading things and not fishermen feet.

Yes, I think that birds could easily be the culprits. We are only in control of so much.
