I'm planning on buying a new pistol soon and I'm leaning towards a S&W M&P .40 caliber. Anybody have any experience with or advice about this gun?

my dad just bought the s&w MP40 shield. what a nice looking gun. it is a single stack mag and very slim and a subcompact. if i had not just bought a springfield xd subcompact .40 i would be very tempted with the s&w.

Nice. I ended up going for the 9mm M&P. It has a higher round capacity (17+1) than the .40 (15+1) and also less for recoil for more accurate shooting. I'm hopefully taking it to the range this afternoon so I'll let you know how it shoots.

The 9 shoots great. It has a smooth action, shoots accurately, and has only had 2 or 3 jams in 300 rounds fired. I would recommend it to anybody.
