Camping options ... Upper Zion

My group will be heading into Zion canyons on Sept 20th for a week. Will be running Das Boot and follow up with Icebox the next day. Is there a suggested camping area in that Kolob 'upper zion' area? I remember hearing that there is some primitive camping up there but would like to confirm that we could sack out between canyons??

If not, maybe some suggestions on best place to sack out after Das Boot .... ?

There is plenty of primitive camping that starts about 3/4 mile down Smith Mesa Rd (turn off just before the Subway TH). If you are going through Das Boot and out the Subway it's about a 5 minute drive.

This time of year I would just go up to lava. It'll be cooler and it's only another 10 minutes or so. Plus there is lots of primitive camping on the other side of the park past the subway th.
