Big thanks. Interesting, we decided Saturday, while on our hike that we needed to buy Bo and Tanya's book. My wife is picking it up this week while I'm away.

Thanks again for the location suggestions, I'll give it a shot. Wade

Good morning Hank,
Want to confirm that the reservoir your talking about is the small one at the trail head accessed through Hildale?
Also on the north west corner of Cannan Mt on the hiking/topo map shows a blip of a trail merging in with the loop. Any knowledge about this access point?

Thanks, Debby

Hi Debby

Yes, the small rez at the end of water canyon rd. park there, walk up the trail a little ways to find several good campsites. no knowledge of the merge trail you mentioned.

The last 1.5 mile(?) to the reservoir is dirt road. If dry, it's passable for passenger cars. Not so if wet. A downpour will turn it into mud soup.

Not sure what blip of a trail you're referring to, but there is a pack/atv/jeep trail up there. Ends at Sawmill Spring. You'll likely follow it if you travel to see White Domes, The Notch, the windlass, etc. I believe access originates somewhere on the Cane Beds Rd over towards the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. And somewhere along the route there should be a vehicle barrier in place which apparently gets circumvented from time to time.

A couple photos from up on top:

Thanks Hank, Bo & Tanya for the information. Your web site is great, have consulted it many times and will again when we go to zions over thanksgiving and want to do some of the more obscure hikes. Ill keep an eye open for the book. We hiked Water canyon last fall and were a little creeped out by Hildale. Good to know you all feel safe at those camp site along the access road. Any recommendations for an additional hike in this area?
Thanks again, Debby

Debby Dear,

If you are over 18, you are safe in Hildale. Bad joke, but I could not resist!
