I don't know how to embed the video from Fox13, so you'll have go to the source. Aside from the unfortunate accident, we had a great time. Hiked 5 hours, and made it all the way up to the Wasatch Mine.
Maybe I'll post some pix up later...

No. We arrived just as the heli was taking his body down to the main road. We snaked through the crowd of emergency personnel to get to the trailhead, and that's when Fox nabbed me for an interview. It was quite a hike - especially with a 4-year-old riding on my shoulders up the 1500' elev gain. I'm quite stiff today.
The gentleman involved in the accident flipped his ATV right at the Wasatch Mine from what I was told. He died immediately.

I've ridden and hiked that trail many times in the past few years. Was he climbing the last few switchbacks at the end of the canyon? I can't imagine any other place where you can roll an ATV. Most of that trail is pretty flat -- until you hit the back end and the two mines.
BTW and as an aside, I love scrambling to the ridge, then dropping down to Lake Blanche!

I went back to my own blog site and determined that there are indeed some technical sections. Seems I forgot some of the tight switchbacks just past the little waterfall:

He rolled right off the south end of the tailings pile at the Wasatch Mine. That's as flat as it gets. They suspect he had a heart attack just prior to the incident.
