RedSpecialized and I got out today with another friend. We had a great day riding two loops. It was challenging and boy could I smell clutch when RedSpecialized was finished with uphill climbs. :haha:

In terms of challenge, how did this trail compare with the Ben lomond ride that we went on earlier ?

Hmmmm. Our first loop had some tough sections. I'd rate some of it 8 on a 10 scale. BL had a 9 section, just those switchbacks though as I recall. I'd say overall they are pretty similar, but BL is tougher on that switchback section. Yet AF has some pretty technical stuff too. Steep climbs over soccer ball sized rocks. Ask Ben about that...

Our second loop was 6 or 7 out of 10.

I think Scott might be confused with onther ride he did before, I'm sure they were all 10's or higher. At least that is what it seemded like to me. I appreciate scott letting me tag along and having the patience to wait for my slow behind. It was a fun day forme though and I did get the clutch smoking a few times. Just glad Scott didn't post all the pics he took.

You aren't living until you ride the 038. It's a brute!:crazycobasa:

I think that I would prefer riding the 038 trail on my mountainbike before attempting the impossible on a motorcycle.

I lost my little map:nono:
So were is 38 or 038 and I wonder if I hit any of it with the boys when I had a chance at it?

Seems to me there was a very washed out trail with 2 or 3 small water crossings that might be this one but I just don't know.

It comes off the 157 at Rock Spring and runs around the East Side of Mill Canyon Peak. Its a blast!! In a masochistic sort of way.

Very rough with lots of technical sections. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

That's your call. It's as hard as anything I've ever done.

Maybe when I can ride the Ben lomond switch backs without dabbing a foot than I will be ready for #38 .:haha:

When you ride BL without a foot down, I will kiss your feet (don't get excited). Everybody dabs on that ride!! That being said, the 38 is tougher.

I'll second that. 38 is an adventure. Bordering on Insane. Especially the section North of the AF road.

This was a quick ride two of us did last Friday. Apparently my GPS was lacking on this run, but you get the idea.
