Recluse Left Hand Brake

I installed my left hand brake the other day. Recluse is sourcing a Hayes Mtn Bike brake for the kit. It was easy to install but took a while to get all the air out. It does not interfere with the clutch at all. edit: the clutch is up a bit higher then I would like if I used it, but with the recluse clutch very seldom do I ever pull it in, so for me it is fine. I had to move my horn light etc switch over so it could go in it's place. Went for a short ride with my Son the other day and all I have to say is why haven't I had one of these for years. Going down atv/single track is a breeze. Standing up going over rough terrain and need a little brake just squeeze with one finger. It rules.

He set it up with the front brake on the left and rear on the right. He wanted to mirror his mtn bike set up. Interesting.

I have flipped the brakes on my mountain bikes since the early 80's to mirror my motorcycles.

It just made sence because when I bought my first mtn bike I had already been racing motorcycles professionally for ten years and I wanted my front brake on the right so I didn't have to think.

That's a great idea. The gentleman Acca mentioned is an ex pro mtn biker, so I guess it makes sense to go with what's comfortable. No rekluse for me anytime soon, but they sure seem to make things interesting.

I can imagine that would be amazing on the trails around Moab. Very awkward to rely only on the front brake while making a right hand turn when you need your right foot on the ground for balance.

Do you still have a brake for your right foot?

Yes I still have my foot brake.

I've been wanting to set my bike up like this for a while.

Does rekluse sell the perch for it as well, to enable the dual handles? Think there's any difference for a KTM where the mineral oil is up there with the hydraulic brake?

I would call them and ask them about your bike. I am sure they have a kit for yours. If it is Orange they seem to have them covered.

It's in a reservoir on the lever. It's the stock ktm Madura clutch

Remind me to never take a spin on your bike moabmark, I'd be so confused I'm sure that at very least I would go over the bars.

But then again if you get used to it the trails are at your mercy.:2thumbs:

I can't help but think about simple care and up keep and the extra headaches involved and the spare parts while on longer rides?

But I can also see a lot of advantages to this set up.

Putting regular brake fluid in it. It is incorporated with the rear foot brake system.
