Since we don't have a Movies/TV section...

I just stumbled upon it on Netflix the other day....OMG. It's almost as addictive as the Meth portrayed in the episodes. I just finished season 1 yesterday, and I started watching on Monday. Can't wait to see the next 3 seasons!

It falls into my top three favs right along with Dexter and 6 Feet Under.

I started watching because my friend is a set forman on the show in New Mexico. Amazing work by the screen writers and actors. Be prepared, as foreshadowed, the show dives deep into Bryan Cranston's character's deep, dark psyche. Some people just can't take it but its worth the journey.

You also might "Luther" from the series you have mentioned above. I am a season or two behind on Dexter myself. And of course there is always the "Wire", which I think was a paradigm shift in television.

The last two seasons of Dexter can't hold a candle to the first two IMO. I believe I have a bit of a dark psyche myself, which might explain my penchant for these kinds of shows.

Oh, just wait: it gets better, deeper and darker as the seasons go on !

We are having bi-weekly "Breaking Bad" parties at our friend's because she has been torrenting the current season episodes, and we are all totally obsessed with the show .

It's probably our favorite currently running cable network show as well. The cinematography is exceptional; it adds to the dark and twisted nature of the show.

Check out the "torrent" thread for more on these TV shows and a few other good ones.

As for breaking bad.... this will be the final season so I expect anything might happen... including killing off main chractors.

FWIW: breaking bad, the wire, and Dexter are some of my all time favorites.

Hadn't paid attention to the news about its final season. Sounds like the 16 episodes will be aired over two summers though, ending next summer.

Bummer. Sometimes you have to kill a show before its ruined by continuation though. Bad news for my friend, was solid, reliable work since 2007. Hope they get another show into the studios down in ABQ.

Agreed on Dexter, his character was written differently after the first two seasons.

The cinematography is exceptional;

I love the time lapse shots of the sunshine, traffic, etc. Contrasts quite well to the dark tone set by the actions of the main characters.

BTW, I love your sig. :haha:

Exactly - the time lapse shots are my favorites. Also, the clips that are shot in sepia tone. There is one opening scene in particular, not sure what season these two characters appear, but it shows people crawling across the desert, and then you see these characters (brothers). Holy crap, is it freaky! But, it so perfectly sets the stage for those guys introduction into the show. And their boots :haha:.

Another thing I like about the show is that it in no way, shape or form glorifies condones meth, meth users or meth cookers.

BTW, I love your sig. :haha:
I'm glad others get a chuckle out of it as well .

Oh, also totally agree with you and Phillip about Dexter. I think it's probably just really hard for some shows to hold their edge over several seasons. Another example is "Weeds", which was totally awesome for the first two seasons, and has gone downhill since then to the point I pretty much can't stand any of the characters except for Andy and Shane, and we quit watching before the season ended.

We also like "Sons of Anarchy", "Boardwalk Empire", "The Walking Dead" (a surprise, because I normally detest zombie-themed anything), and "Justified", which has colorful characters and lots of dry humor. And we are watching "Rescue Me", which isn't current, but we are working through Season 4 on Netflix. It's also got many dark elements in it.

Oh, and I can't forget "Game of Thrones", which is also a genre I don't usually watch, but it's amazing. The director describes it as: "the Sopranos meets middle earth", which I think is pretty accurate.

+1 for "The Walking Dead", except, now Dish isn't carrying AMC.
I also really like "Falling Skies" on TNT.

The Borgia's, The Tudors, Boss, Pillars of the Earth, Spartacus, Rome, Deadwood, Hell on Wheels, Underbelly, Mad Men are all shows I watch and enjoy.

For those that don't know.... Underbelly is like a true version of Soprano's. Its Australia's number 1 show. I torrented the show, not sure if its available in the USA on netflex or DVD.

Walking Dead is a fun show.... but the plot is full of holes.

I hope a zombie chomps the bitch wife and dumbass kid this season.

Darrel is by far my favorite..... I'm just waiting for the day his brother re-appears.

Yeah, the Walking Dead turned into a bad day-time soap opera during the middle of last season. There weren't even zombies for like 3-4 episodes. I am hoping they get back to the graphic novel, which they hinted at with the final episode.

A lot of the better stuff used to be on HBO (it's not TV), but the other networks have caught up, and are now giving HBO a run for their money - Showtime with Dexter and Homeland, FX with Louie, AMC with Breaking Bad, etc

Hell, they HAD a clear shot (after Hank killed Tuco), but they decided to run away instead. Walt had to know that Hank was breathing down his neck if he drove all the way out there in the first place. Walt should regard Hank as a primary threat to his operation, and hence a primary threat to his family's future well being.

If you're willing to play poker with the devil (cooking Meth), you gotta put all your chips in (ie be willing to kill), cuz the devil's playing to win as well and he's damn good at his game. There's a reason why drug lords are armed to the teeth...

I do agree with you, yes. We should talk more when you finish off season 4. :2thumbs:

But I do appreciate how Walt tries to find a way to not kill people until he's backed completely into a corner.

Better yet you should come on over and we can watch the remainder of the series on my big screen. We can scream and boo at the law enforcement and DEA officers, and cheer and hi 5 for Walt and his gang.

I can't believe a TV show could flop my morals so drastically....errr...wait, nevermind. I CAN believe it. Breaking Bad is like a modern day Beowulf story.

HAA! Have you guys beat: we just got back from a 5-day camping trip in the southern San Juans (Conejos River), and our friends who we camped with brought along their small widescreen TV, laptop with episodes 4 & 5 of Season 5, and all 4 of us convened in our RV to watch them at night after dinner and cocktails . We have all been getting together to watch the show for a year now, so this was merely an extension of that.

Season 5 is totally unhinged. It is gearing up to have an explosive, dark ending, although it's anyone's guess as to how exactly that will play out. Walt's dark side is fully exposed, and after episodes 4 & 5, they are on a path with no return.

Season 5 is split into two "mini-seasons", and there are only 3 episodes left in the first one. I hope we don't have to wait a full year to see the second half!

I'm actually most intrigued how the money is corrupting his wife. His whole purpose was to keep her pure and uninvolved, now she is getting in over her head as well. This whole operation is pretty much a failure on every level. Amazing writing and storyline. Really enjoying it. I got a couple more episodes left, then I have to wait like everyone else. :cry1:

Admitting ignorance here: Isn't "torrenting" basically what Limewire was about 7 - 8 years ago? As I recall, Limewire was a breeding ground for thousands of really nasty viruses. What's the diff? Step me through this.

Sombeech

While the end result may be similar to the old Limewire P2P sharing, Torrents are considered much safer.

You'll still use a client like you did with Limewire, but a very popular and safe client I use is uTorrent. You can either search for torrents through the client, or go online like I prefer to a site at torrent-finder.info which is basically a site that searches over many other sites for torrents.

The number one difference between torrents and straight file sharing, is torrents are grabbing the fractions, sometimes up to tens of thousands of fractions of a file depending on how many seeds are out there, and it compiles them all on your end. So the likelyhood of a virus getting attached to the one file is almost nil.

Plus on sites like that, you'll read the comments and reviews on if the file was malicious, or if the audio just sucked, or if it doesn't work, stuff like that. The good files always get bumped to the top, hence more seeds, hence faster downloads. You should give it a try.

So here's last week's Sons of Anarchy latest episode, 8700+ seeds on the top torrent out of 33 torrents. Depending on download speed and size you could have this in 20 minutes or less. It's just all about the resources now vs Limewire.

The leech is you, somebody who is downloading.

Yes it's a normal file like an AVI or whatever that you keep on your machine. Once the download is complete though, I would highly advise you kill the feed. It just helps to avoid any "distribution" claims if you know what I mean. Helps, not completely avoids.

First off.... season 5 is not yet complte and will not be until 2013. Only episodes 1 thru 8 have been released.

As mentioned above torrents are the simpliest method of downloading the complete (to date) season.

It will burn your movie to disc or convert it for viewing on your smartphone or any other devise. It also has a built in viewer so you can watch the movie on your computer with no other programs required. Best of all the program has a short learning curve. Utorrent. Find the torrent you want, drag it into Utorrent. When it's downloaded you'll have a nice video file ready for you to move wherever you want. Just make sure you're getting the type of video file you want (avi, mp4,etc). It never expires or goes away. I use a peer blocker program so it's a bit safer than just grabbing them yourself. A leech is someone who is downloading but not uploading. So someone who is using the available resources but not contributing to the resource.

In my experience the uploading is where you get 'caught' and get an email from a lawyer.

Forgot to mention that for all TV shows I just use EZTV. download the torrents and open them up in Vuze or Utorrent. This combined with ADHE means you don;t need cable. I get all my sports streaming thru my computer to my xbox via ADHE (I always watch the Packer games) like Direct TV NFL ticket. then all my tv shows thru eztv or netflix.
