Got a canyon in with the Bushwhacker last weekend, which mysteriously did not involve very much bushwhackery...

Enjoy.

So where is this canyon? I'm sure there is a list of secret/found canyons out there discovered with google earth and then boots on the ground.

This canyon is...

on the list of secret/found canyons discovered via the map, google earth and boots on the ground.

You are correct, sir.

Tom is going to drive the beta proliferators crazy with his 'secret canyon' tauntings.

Someone's gotta do it...

Besides, I gave No Good away, lock stock and barrel. Even left it to Ice for a first descent...

Looked like 200', turned out to be only 150'.

It just gives us anther target to shot at, which I'd put in the 'fun & games' catagory. To me going crazy is when I can't get my books to balance or something important like that.

As for Google Maps, I have found it fairly useless; nothing can make up for boots on the ground.

Seriously? I've found Google earth to be amazing helpful. Although I have noticed it's not nearly as useful for the Zion stuff, for some reason all the trees make it more difficult to identify slots. For the Powell, Roost, Escalante, etc, area Google earth is an indispensable tool in my humble opinion.

YMMV :cool2:

We are finding some really good East side stuff but more out of desperation; we are now travelling areas once thought devoid of worthwhile canyons.

There are some slots that drop into Shunes Creek and in that area if you get bored. I have some very basic beta on those slots. I've never done any of them, but the pictures one group showed me look pretty cool. I also know one of the local Zion guides has been systematically doing everything south of Springdale (Highway 9). I know most of the stuff is a lot of work for a short section of really good slot, or so I was told by said feller....

Good hunting....

FWIW: Second Creek was done with 200' ropes (and a little ingenuity)... and the "don't get caught exit", was used which simplifies things....

My beta is always golden.... you know that... hell, everyone knows that.... 200' ropes with no dumbass rope tricks. I'll let you use those superior canyoneering skillz you are always yakking about to figure out how it was done.

I wasn't advocating an exit, just stating what was done.

Yeah, I'm done with this conversation. If you want to continue posting bad beta, I'm not going to correct you.
