Was planning on a trip through fat mans misery but scored some mystery permits in the last minute drawing so plans had to change. The worst part is the 6 person limit so they had to be rationed out and some didn't get to go. Sorry for those that didn't. Mystery is always a good time, we entered from the East Mesa trail for the first time which initially seemed like a good idea because of the 45 minute hike down to Mystery. But after the hike is over and you have to shuttle back up we all decided the hike up Observation is still the way to go. Mystery is a great canyon but I don't think it warrants the difficulty in obtaining permits for it, but I will take them anytime I can. We had a great time, no rushing at all. Took lots of pics and had a great day. Here is a link to some more pictures.

We did Mystery on Sunday.... at least now I know who beat me to the Saturday permits, which turned Sunday into a long day with the drive home.

Nice pics! I agree if you bother with the permit system, that it's not worth the trouble. :2thumbs:

Sorry. We did get 2 extra raps in because I wanted to keep it lighter and faster so I only took my 60' and 100' ropes. We had to stage the last 2. Its always fun to hear all the narrows hikers yelling up telling you not to go because your rope is too short
