We just had out first brush fire of the season in Cedar, only the second one I know of in the last 6 years I have lived here. Once again it looks to have been started unintentionally by a person (cigarette it sounds like thus far). Last years fire was started by a person behind the liquor store with a welder.
We lost two individuals to a plane crash during a wildfire just recently.
Be over the top careful out there this year. Conditions are ultra-dry and the winds have been epic. Fire bans are going into place fast across the state (just saw Grand County added to the list). Might be a good year to star gaze instead o having the nightly fire while camping. At a minimum please have a bucket of water and shovel to put the coals out every night. Don't toss cigarettes. Use spark arresters. ETC ETC
