View Full Version : Bad day for LinkedIn: 6.5 million hashed passwords reportedly leaked

Norweigan IT website Dagens IT reported (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=no&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dagensit.no%2Farticle2411857.ec e) the breach, with 6.5 million encrypted passwords posted to a Russian hacker site. Security researcher Per Thorsheim (https://twitter.com/#%21/thorsheim) has also confirmed reports via his Twitter feed, stating that the attackers have posted the encrypted passwords to request help cracking them.

Finnish security firm CERT-FI is warning (https://www.cert.fi/tietoturvanyt/2012/06/ttn201206061430.html) that whilst user details have not been posted, it is believed that the attackers will have access to user data as well as their passwords.
