Hole in the ground near Gravel Canyon... what are they?

If you go to Google Maps and zoom in on Gravel Canyon (I found it by looking for the cheesebox ut), there are three circles near the section of canyon that turns west. Two of the circles are on the east and one on the west side. Inside those circles are large depressions in the ground. Any idea what they are?

Alien landing gear marks.... duh.

Heh, your brain is playing tricks on you. Those are buttes, not depressions, and the black "holes" are shadows cast by the buttes. Same thing happens to me sometimes looking at shaded-relief maps.
