A few of us are headed to Fruita Thursday night. First time down there, always been hard to pass on Moab when headed that direction. But, too many runners (Redrock Relay) and no hotel rooms available in Moab so we will try biking in CO. Plan on riding Kokopelli trails all day Friday and Lunch Loops Saturday. Questions: where do you stay if not camping (who has the best hot tub or pool for after rides is high on our list), and where else would you ride besides those two areas. Thanks and come meet us or join us down there, although the truck is already full.

18 Road is supposed to have some good trails...I haven't been out there yet

There's some good info on the trails here: http://www.gjmountainbiking.com/

I have stayed at the Holiday inn express in Grandjunction 2 years in a row. They have a great indoor pool, hot tub and breakfast in the morning. Ride the Kokopelli trails in Fruita on your way towards Grand Junction. I liked those trail better than 18 mile road area trail also in Fruita. Mary's loop, Horsethief and Rustlers loop are awesome. For a more technical trail, ride Morefun. In Grandjunction you will want to ride the lunch loop trail system. My favorites were Freelunch and Holy cross as well as the Ribbon trail. As a general rule, I would say that Grandjunction trails offered more technical and variety in their trails. Fruita trails were more mellow and easier. These trails will be mostly single track. It differs greatly from Moab by the fact that you won't see motorcycles and jeeps on the trails. This is a single track paradise. I however do enjoy watching the motorcycles and jeeps over come the obstacles in Moab. Hope that it isn't too hot, it is getting late in the year for both of these locations.

Thanks for the help. Work schedules kept us from leaving last night. We decided to go hit Good Water Rim today and then continue on down to Fruita/GJ to ride the Kokopelli trails tomorrow. Will report.

When I was riding down there last year, besides the Lunch Loop and Kopella trails, a rider that I ran into on the trail also suggested the book cliff trails. There is also a good reference web site if you google Grand Junction mountain biking.

We had a big group up 18 Road at the top campground and had a ball! Met IntrepidXJ and a bunch of new friends. I just got home this afternoon but we ended up riding quite a bit of the 18 rd trail system but you could have heard me say bad words a few minutes ago when I discovered that NONE of my video recorded right (dammit) so none of ZippityDoDa or the new PBR trail recorded. :facepalm1:....gonna have to go do it all over again:nod:
