I have Steve Allen's 3 canyoneering books, but they don't contain info on the Moab area. I've searched Amazon and the web and can't seem to find one. Is there a canyoneering guidebook available for the Moab area? If so, where can I get one? If not, how does one find these canyons near Moab?

Thanks for the help,
Randy

Actual Canyoneering guidebooks are few and far between in this, the age of the Interwebs.

Best coverage of Moab area is at Shane's website: http://climb-utah.com/

Cost: 40$ per year. There's a lot of canyons on there, generally considered a bargain!

Ryan has some Moab stuff over at his site: http://www.ajroadtrips.com/go/ A smaller site, with a smaller price - $ 25.00 per year.

The water level is way lower in the video than when we did this last May, not surprising, I guess ....
Interesting to see what was underwater in those potholes.

FWIW: The water level is low in the actual video footage but very high in the embed still pictures. The video was created from material acquired on three separate trips through Dragonfly.

There is a nice pair of Oakleys in the bottom of the last pothole!!!:angryfire: I would really like them back.

Even with the water level low the last pothole is a swimmer if you go in, that sucker must be deep (there is a small ledge on the north side you can stand on and only go knee deep at low level).

I didn't see any sunglasses in there when I went through last May (have not been since). Bummer...

I lost a Potshot in that pothole when it was very full.. about up to my chin. I stupidly left the empty potshot on the lip above it while I was helping my wife out of the prior pothole and the Potshot was untied from the rope- not sure what I was thinking. It sank to the bottom and I had to search for it for almost 15 or 20 minutes with my toes. Thankfully, I had a wetsuit- water was very cold. I evetually felt it with my toes right about as I was gonna give up. No way I would have dove for it ...

I rode the shuttle for Dragonfly on a mountain bike prior to putting in (left a car at the takeout). It still would have sucked to lose sunglasses in there..
