Sounds like a Vegas trip? We could ride out at Nelson Friday, then ride out at apex Saturday morning and actually ride along the track to various points if we want to match our viewing pleasures. I hear it's pretty fun to sit at the northern end at the tunnel and watch from there.

I've ridden the northern part of the mint 400 loop (lots and I mean lots of whoops) and its pretty much all accessible.

Lots of places to ride down here! We could easily spend a couple of days riding just the Nelson area.

I'm trying to get the scoop on a single track in the La Verkin area that from what little I've heard is said to be fantastic.
I thought I see someone on here do it before with some video but after looking around it must have been another source that I can't seem to find again.
I sent nelsonccc a pm in high hopes. He seems to know all these kind of trails around here.
I don't think it is very long but just real good from what little I hear.

Mark's wife's b-day is on the 10th and my wife has a scrapbook expo on the 23-24. You wont hear any complaining from me with a new Berg on the way...Mark too.

We will be riding March 16th and 17th. Traveling down on the 15th. Maybe a day in Mesquite and possibly Nelson Hills?

Nelson Hills would be best on Friday to cut our drive on Saturday night...

I'm in for sure! How realistic is it that you guys will want to ride Nelson on Friday? I'm game for whatever.

Garbanzo
02-23-2012, 08:25 PM
I'd say very realistic. We would probably stay in St George and come down early on Friday, then ride Mesquite on Saturday. Either way, if you can do a long ride on Friday, I say let's do it. What about Jarrod? Can he make it? Gotta have the Green!

Mtnseeker1
02-23-2012, 11:18 PM
That's right, I mean what is Batman without Robin? :lol8: J/K

Besides it'll give you southern boys a chance to check out the new rides and new to some rides.
And as usual you get to show off your trails.
Hopping the rabbit can make this one as well. :)

Jarrod is a maybe for the 16th. His baby is due on the 23rd so he's a little iffy. I'm pretty sure hell make the 16th but probably skip out on the 17. I however will do both an I'm already route planning a super hard route thru Nelson that will make mark cry.

On a small side note: I was planing on heading out in the morn to check out the Rhino Rally at Warner Valley then found out that the works race is in Mesquite so works it is baby.
I'll do my very best with this POS point and shoot.:)
Besides the views will be rounder if you know what I mean.

So this new route nelson, Is it with technical climbs and such?
I was thinking of putting my stock unweighted flywheel on the YZ but maybe I should hold off.:ne_nau:
Maybe I'll just do it and take it out to see just how hard she hits anyway. I can always go back.
You know me either way it's going to be a challenge but I was just thinking of the sand washes and getting up to some speed to stay up on top.
Any thoughts?

It's hard for me to truly be subjective regarding Nelson, cause Jarrod and I ride at least twice a month. I'm used to the hills and such. Perhaps Garbonzo can elaborate has he's been there and it was new for him. It would essentially be the same loop but with a few more technical spots thrown in on the back half of the loop. Typically the hills are steep, loose, and rutted out. Most of this area is true desert singletrack.

This is the TR from Mark and I when we did it last. http://www.bogley.com/forum/showthread.php?54357-Bogley-Nelson-Hills-5-2-11 Likely will be the same loop +/- a few detours of harder stuff on the back side.

02-27-2012, 06:21 PM
OK - great that's the kind of info that will keep me from making the change and staying with the set up I am using now.
This bike does seem a little slow in the open stuff but I need all the help I can muster for the fun stuff.:2thumbs:

And thank you for the tip nelsonccc.

Oh ya, Are these loops a pack a lunch for the trail or is it more like lunch in the parking lot and get ready for round 2?
Miles and gas?
20 mile loops?
OR?

I still am going to try to get the stock fly wheel on and she just how hard she hits (YZ). Got a lot better tire on her than the other.

WAY stoked to see these here new euro rides while they are still shiny and bright but get picts fast.

I'm not 100% sure if I'll make this one.
Had an off about 3 weeks ago and took a shot to the ribs.
Was feeling ok so I went out Sun. for a short and mellow ride and only got 5 miles out when the YZ started backfiring and running like crap.
So I headed back to the truck and noticed that I sheared off or lost my air/fuel screw. ( have a new one on order)
Went out yesterday on the XR and was feeling a little sore but mostly ok.
Then mowed the lawn and edged it and really did something wrong. Pulled muscle in the same area or? 2000 milligrams of Ibuprofen and I finally got to sleep about 3am.
Its like the muscles under my arm in the rib area just lock up and hurt like hell.
I thought I was pretty much good to go up till yesterday.

Quit being a vagina. Man the F up and come. I've custom tailored this route just for you to see if I can make a grown man cry. We will have a blast and truly it's not that hard. Only a couple of rough spots.

We can meet in town somewhere and ride to the launch spot together or we can meet out near Nelson. Probably easier just to meet out there since you guys coming from up north can just roll down the 95 to Boulder.

I have the one on the right. It does need what you see. washer, spring, washer, o-ring. Sometimes the o-ring gets stuck inside the carb. Get a flashilight and a mirror and check.
If it is, i'd just leave it and put the rest in. I lost the o-ring as soon as I got mine, and had to go back to the bike shop to get a replacement.

Looking for some input on lunch.
I can pack a small card table and bring some hoggie fixxins ( cold cuts ) and just lay it all out for those that might want to do this. Kind of a build your own for lunch for anybody interested.
Just need a few ideas as to what you all might like? LIke mayo , peppers, cheese, meat, ect.
Was thinking smaller like store size 6" long rolls.
Or maybe a kind of pot luck were everyone can grab one item to make this work?
Any thoughts?
Just something simple between us all and get back to the trail. BRaaaaap.
I'm not thinking chips and dip but protein/carbs and filling and back to roosting each other.
I can handle fruit for lunch with no quilms.
I love fruit and yogurt lunches myself. Makes me what to ride dirt hard.:) no bloat and let's hit this shit now right now.
Feeling light and good and let's hit them whoops again.

I've been thinking about lunch too. Maybe everyone brings you $5 or said amount and you bring the lunch? How much?

Or we bring a cooler of drinks and part of the food? Let's make it easy. I'm good with sandwiches or whatever.

I got thinking about this lunch thing and it's going to be windy on both days.
I think it would be just as easy to hit up the subway the night before and I'll bring a cooler with some large zip locs and a sharpie.
Quick and painless I say.
Then we can meet Fri. morning stash the hoggies in cooler and I'll just follow you to Nelson.
And pick up the one that will be riding with me.

Since we're meeting at 9:30 and probably not riding till 10:00 we'll be lunching on the trail. The ride is usually about 2.5 hours riding and another 2 hours of waiting, etc. So I'm probably just going to pack something to snack on. Usually we do brats after the ride between loops but I'm not sure yet if Jarrod will have a pass for the whole day, we'll see. Looking forward to the ride tomorrow and Saturday!

Sounds good and thank you for the heads up on the snack on the trail situ.nelsonccc.

Well some of the boys showed up a little later than 4ish today but we did manage to get pre twilight ride in.
Got a chance to meet Brent. The others I have met and rode with before. It was a dusty son of a gun out past Bloomington but we got a couple hrs. in all the same.
Looking forward to what nelson hills will bring for us in the morn.
