Reminds me of a phone call I got a couple of years ago. My brother was called by the police to ask about the house my Grandparents had lived in for 60+ yrs. in Tooele. Turns out the new owners were remodeling and found a human skull built into the roof. As it turns out, they (my Grandparents) bought the house from an anthropologist and the skull turned out to be ~100+ years old. However, it freaked us out for a bit and no one knows how and why it would be built into the roof.

Odd. Not to be callous, but why bother testing? The boys are obviously long dead. What does a piece matter at this point? So much time has passed.

That was almost my thought exactly. For me, a piece of a skull wouldn't bring me that much peace or help recover from this tragedy. And both the parents are already dead. I would guess it's more morbid curiosity, which is fine too.

I would think they also have to preform the tests to rule out its not a dead hooker or other crime.

I can think of only on e thing worse than the death of a loved one- the disappearance of a loved one. Never knowing for sure what happened. I hope this brings some peace to the remaining family. Thanks for sharing the article Ice.

Several years ago 6-7-8-9? I had finished working a SAR and headed into EOC to sign paperwork. Chuck Passek was looking at an old newspaper SLC Trib. or something? Asking what he was looking at he showed me the article written in the 60's and there was a photo. It was a photo taken by one of the group as the flash flood was rounding a corner. Holy S#!+!!!!!!!! The wall of water was at least 12' high. I asked why he was looking at this and he said that they had found some human bones somewhere around Rockville and that he was investigating the incident. I too hope that the DNA shows something conclusive. I'm quite certain that any remaining living family would gain some sort of comfort?
