I'm only amazed that some folks think adding a wilderness/national monument/whatever designation will slow the people impact, where in fact it turns out to be quite the opposite.
20+ years ago, I never saw another soul on the GSENM or Paria.
Since Clinton helped out all the environmental groups with a designation, it has been and will continue to be mayhem and beyond.
Thanks Bill:2thumbs:

As for being designated I have always been torn on that issue. As you said "people impact" has grown dramatically but "people impact" is small compared to the potential impact from the coal, oil, gas, uranium, etc. No?

If you believe that just wait... visitation is a whole different animal once Nat Geo gets a hold of it.
FWIW: the Subway in Zion was pretty much off the general publics radar until it appeared in Nat Geo.

Fortunately the pictures left much to be desired! I have seen much better pictures of Coyote Buttes North/South, White Pocket, etc on Bogley!

These are some of the pictures. Actually there are some really good ones on the website but the ones they used for the article (at least for Coyote Buttes North/South/White Pocket were about the worst ones on the website.
