Aye!!…. she was a cold Devil.
Dirty Devil slots are always tempting. Weather forecast for the Dirty Devil/Hanksville area was for clear skies and warm temps in the high 40’s low 50’s. The realty; it was overcast and chilly. I don’t think it got much warmer than 20 – 25 degrees. The sun popped out twice for about a minute each. Fortunately it was a dry cold. The canyon was in great condition for an outing with SEAC students from Highland High school in Salt Lake City. We gave this devil her due with a quick succession of 4 -5 rappels, the last one being a down climb to a pothole and then over the brink. From there we were out of Lost Angel in short order. The second leg of this adventure is a leisurely walk along the river bank. We made sure to stop at the petroglyph sites. The last leg of course is the redeeming minor lung popper climb out. Great fun for a winter’s day.
