Hello everyone,
Its barely January and Im already dying to get out and do some camping. Because we have a 3 year old I cant really go out right now here in Colorado.
So I was thinking of driving (TX or CA, ) and camp out a couple of days. Problem is I dont know where would be a good spot. Any suggestions? 50's during the day low 30's at night? Utah would be great but if Im not mistaken the weather can get pretty cold there too.

San Elijo State Beach or South Carlsbad State Beach, both in San Diego County.
Have to use reserveamerica.com for reservations

I used to go down to Organ Pipe in southern AZ nearly every January myself for some nice, warm hiking.
That stopped about 3 years ago. I always saw signs of the immigrants, but then it started to "feel" sketchy.
Not to cool close to the border right now. I'd avoid it and hope things will get better. It's a shame, seeing what used to be these pristine areas slowly getting thrashed...
I concur with Death Valley. It's a lot more varied than most think. I suppose the bottom of the Grand Canyon is out of the question with the little one? Cedar Mesa is a GREAT place to camp and hike, just cross your fingers for a warm spell.
We're having one right now, in fact. Good luck...
