There are things available on the US iTunes store that are not available on other iTunes stores - certain singles, B-sides, live tracks, etc. Because I have no US credit card, I can not create a US iTunes account except with a US gift card. Whenever I'm in the states, I make a point of buying a US gift card. It's easy for me because I'm there a lot. For those who can't pick one up themselves (because they live in Madagascar, Myanmar, or the Maldives) it's a lot cheaper to pay the extra few bucks and get it on eBay than to fly to the US and get one.

-Not an Apple fanboy, but I love my iPhone, iPad and iPods. However, never going Mac.
