Went out to brave the cold and catch a few fish on Saturday. Fished near Taggart and Devils Slide for a few hours and caught 5 Browns. It was ok in the sun but freezing cold in the shade. As you can see in one of the pictures below, the eyelets on my rod would freeze up. It was nice to get up into the fresh air and out of the smog that is stuck in the valley. Coming back down the canyon into the valley, the smog looked so bad it almost looked like there was a fire in the valley and the smoke was creeping up the canyon. Here's some pictures.

Glad you were able to get out and thanks for sharing.

First pic, I see a furled leader. Do you find your control any better with them, over a commercial nylon? I just got a couple to try out and haven't taken the chance yet.

I started using furled leaders a year or so ago and really like them. They make casting a lot easier/more accurate and they seem to drift very well for nymphing also. I also love the fact that they have virtually no memory. They'll last a year or so too which makes them actually less expensive than nylon leaders in the long run. Don't think I'll ever go back to a nylon leader.

Water levels were fairly low but not at their usually low levels for this time of the year. There were still a few places that didn't fish very well because the water levels were too high.
