I saw somewhere in this forum a couple weeks ago a "guess this place" thread. I can't find it now, so I'll make a new one. Perhaps it's a sticky somewhere? I'm sure some kind person will direct me to the right place...Anyway, give this a shot. Two clues: It's a backpack destination, no nearby roads or easy hike in. Secondly, the mountain in the distance is SOUTH of where I took this picture. If you guess this correct, you and I have something special in common...

Holy crap! That was quick! Indeed you are correct. For those who don't know where this is, it's a high point at the southern end of the Waterpocket Fold. At the very head of Steven's Canyon. The route(s) to get there are described in a Steve Allen book. It's a magnificent place. Great job! I think I'll have to go a bit more technical next time...

Here's a shot of the tank that is always there, even during the drought years. I've been there many times. It's two days to get there for a strong hiker. There's also another tank as big as a swimming pool just 5 min. southeast of this one, along the rim. If you go up there, don't worry, there's water.

Thanks for steering me to the right place. It appears I have to guess one before I can put one up myself!

Here's something else we have in common...I've run into a few of these. Don't worry, they're all still where I discovered them in secret locations. This one was in a spot I would have never expected.
