Where:
Northeast of Fredonia, Arizona Strip
Direction:
From downtown of Fredonia heading north on US 89A. Turn right into Cowboy Dr. and at his end - make a left turn. There is a old kiosk. Follow the dirt road for approx. 3 mls. You'll see a picknick area w/ firering. Push down your cars throttle control. If you see the 2nd picknick area - occur that place.
Why? Both areas were wasted a lot of glass shards, ammo cartridges and other trash. They were nice, maybe in the past.
Ok. Follow the road again. After a couple of yards you've reached the 3rd picknick area and TH. Lift up your eyes and you'll see the Clam Shell in the north.
The hike is easy. W/ a little bit scrambling up.
Hiking and exploring the Clam Shell is a family fun.

Here is the beauty.

Cool! Thanks for posting this. I have a book that mentions it, so I was curious about it.

my pleasure...
thx for reply.
That's interesting.Would you tell me please the title of the book?
I was catching my info, from Kanab Tourist-Info newspaper 2011, during the last days of vacation in the Arizona Strip.
Fredonia was along the way back to LAS and so a short 'jump' to this beauty.

I read about it in Dennis Slifer's book Guide to Rock Art of the Utah Region. At the time of publication (2000) it said the site was being developed for public visitation. Sounds like it's good to go now.

Yep, this site was developed for tourism w/ picknick areas - nice in the past, but the shell is a really beauty.
